Norfolk and Norwich Animal Support

The Norfolk and Norwich Animal Support (NANAS) was founded by a group of highly motivated animal lovers with a shared passion for protecting and supporting wildlife and domestic animals. Our mission is simple: to raise awareness and vital funds for charities, rescue organisations, and individuals who dedicate their time and resources to helping animals in need.

Our team of trustees comes from diverse backgrounds but shares a strong work ethic, developed through years of endurance sports, ultra-running challenges, and community fundraising. Many of us have been actively involved in supporting animal welfare efforts for years, not just through financial contributions but also through hands-on rescue work, advocacy, and awareness campaigns.

After years of organising fundraisers and personally supporting rescue initiatives, it was suggested that we formalise our efforts into a dedicated charity – and so, NANAS was born.

TRUSTEES

Neil Featherby

Neil is very passionate about animals and wildlife hence why he has been supporting animal related causes for many years. He absolutely loves his dogs and has been hands on working with injured and sick foxes through the Fox Angels Foundation since 2020. He has also become a trustee with the said charity. Apart from his competitive running background as an international athlete, which saw him represent England on two occasions and GB 4 times with a marathon PB of 2:17:35, he has also raised thousands of pounds through many long distance ultra running challenges such as Hadrian’s Wall (3 times), The Norfolk Coastal Footpath (twice), Peddars Way and The Cross Norfolk Challenge to name but a few. Away from his charity work and efforts, he is also the founder and managing director of Sportlink Specialist Sports Ltd.

Karen Davies

I played rugby for over 20 years and spent just as long managing Health Clubs for one of the world’s biggest hotel chains. I also worked as a stage manager in the theatre for 20 years, and I still enjoy making theatre props. My competitive streak led me to win the BBC Doctor Who Mastermind trophy. I now organize and run Doctor Who conventions and have had the privilege of interviewing all the surviving Classic era Doctors. These days, I run for pleasure and share my home with Monty, my French Bulldog x Pug, and Daisy, my rescue cat — they keep life interesting and full of character.

Karen Grapes

My love for animals wild or domestic, has got stronger over the years, especially our native wildlife species. The decline due to human and environmental activity is devastating these wonderful creatures. I also have a love for domestic animals, even ones that lock you out of your car… like this one. Scotty the naughty moggy autumn last year.

I live in Felthorpe with my Partner and my 2 teenage boys. I love to run with my 2 Siberian husky dogs. I also have some chickens and a cat. I have spent nearly 10 years helping organise the Norwich Road Runners where I became the clubs Chairperson. My passion has always been to help and support animals

Graham Ringer

I’m Graham Ringer (Chair). In the 1970s, I rode cycle speedway for Hethersett Hawks, and later ran with Duke Street Road Runners and City of Norwich Athletic Club. Today, I’m one of Norfolk’s longest-serving athletics officials. I’ve always loved animals—spiders, snakes, and dogs—but now share my home with Josie, our 17-year-old cat. Our garden is a treasure trove for wild life birds, squirrels and hedgehogs.

I think I am about 50 years of age (possibly a little older) and ever since I can remember I have been surrounded by animals, whether it be ducks, cats, dogs, and even some humans.
I have been running my own Business Rock Solid Graphics for the last 26 years and over the last 15 years have ran in marathons (PB 2 hours 55 mins) and ultra marathons to raise money for numerous Charity’s including of course many which are related to animal causes.I have lots of plans with regards to taking part in some of the biggest and best ultra marathons here in the UK and overseas as running and raising money for charity brings me enormous pleasure.
Lastly, I cannot be more honoured to be a trustee of what will be a great Charity.

I have been looking after Horses since the day I could walk and that is a very long time but over the last few years I have become more and more dedicated to welfare of animals. If I had my way I would have a house full of animals but husband will not allow me and keeps me under control. I am constantly saving road side casualty’s, to the extant I saved a Little owls life and a Roe deer in the last year. I become trustee of this Charity to help raise awareness to stop more victims like this in the future
